What are the usual steps of an appeal?

  1. 1

    Your assessment notice

It shows the assessed value. Your notice or county calendar gives the filing deadline.
  2. 2

    Local review

A county or local review body hears the first appeal.
  3. 3

    Further appeal

If you disagree with the local decision, a state board or court may hear a further appeal.

How to read these pages

What does “coming soon” mean?

We are preparing the free check for that county: its records, rules and deadlines from official sources, each checked by a person before it appears. Join the county's waitlist and we email you once when it opens. How we verify facts

Where do the deadlines come from?

Each date comes from the county's or state's own calendar, notice or rule, with a link to it and the date we last checked it. Forecasts are labelled and never shown as official dates. The same list is open data (CSV).

Do you file the appeal for me?

No. We give you the facts and an evidence packet; you choose, sign and file with your county yourself. We never represent owners or charge a share of savings.

Is your home in a county we cover?

The free check tells you right away, and shows the waitlist if your county isn't open yet.
